Description

16×20 oil on canvas

This painting was inspired by the wolves of the Haliburton Forest Wolf Centre, not far from our summer cottage on Kennisis Lake in Ontario. Hearing their calls echo through the forest and observing them in their natural surroundings has deepened my appreciation for these remarkable animals.

Rather than portraying the wolf as fierce or threatening, I wanted to capture its quiet dignity and the sense of kinship we can feel with the natural world. The soft colours and expressive brushwork reflect the intelligence, resilience, and spirit that wolves embody. Kindred Spirit is an invitation to look beyond myth and fear, and to recognize something familiar in the eyes of a wild creature—a reminder that we are all connected to the landscapes and living beings that shape our lives.
