After painting my cat, Bella, in a highly stylized way, I began to explore how expressive colour and bold brushwork could reveal personality rather than simply record appearance. This bobcat was the next step in that journey.
Originally, I imagined creating a series devoted to cats, but this painting led me in a different direction. It became the bridge from domestic companions to the untamed beauty of wildlife. While grounded in observation, the colours and forms are intentionally expressive, emphasizing the bobcat’s alert gaze, quiet confidence, and independent spirit.
This painting marks the beginning of a broader exploration of the animals that inspire me—capturing not only how they look, but the unique presence and character they bring to the natural world.
